It’s always happy trails at the Forever Wild Trails at Beaver Creek, more than 400 acres in the Dothan city limits designated as part of Alabama’s Forever Wild Land Trust. And with spring bringing green leaves, bright blooms, and sunny days, it’s prime time for exploring the hiking and mountain biking paths that snake through the beautiful natural landscape. The trails open at 6:30 a.m. each day and close just before sundown; visit this link to see a detailed trail map.
Beaver Creek Bash
For three days and two nights April 5-7 this year, Southeast Alabama Mountain Bikers (SAM) hosts the Beaver Creek Bash, a meetup for cyclists to ride the trails and attend skills clinics during the day, and enjoy live music, food, and drinks at night while getting to know fellow mountain biking enthusiasts. Early-bird tickets start at $65 for a weekend pass or $25 for a single day. Prices increase to $80 and $45 after March 1, so purchase yours here! Raffle tickets will also be for sale, with prizes from the event’s sponsors. A Saturday time trial race culminates in a $600 purse for the top three male and female finishers! Proceeds benefit SAM, a volunteer organization that promotes mountain biking and also helps maintain the trails so that everyone can enjoy them.
