While you could watch the ball drop in Time Square on TV, it’s a lot more fun to see a peanut drop in person. That’s just what you can enjoy at the Dothan Downtown New Year’s Eve Countdown on Dec. 31. The second annual event will run from 7 p.m. to midnight, but don’t let the late night fool you. There are lots of kid-friendly activities, so load up everyone and head to Foster Street.
For the Kiddos
New Year’s Eve doesn’t always seem like a holiday for the kids, but it is when you live in Dothan. This festival will have a special play area compete with inflatables for the kids to enjoy. Plus, there will be an early countdown for the little ones. They can count down to “midnight” at 9 p.m. Then, you can drop the kids off with the babysitter and come back for a little more fun.
For the Adults
There is live music from 7 p.m. to midnight, plus the peanut drops at midnight. The countdown is so much fun. Most of the kids are gone by then, so it’s just a group of adults having fun together.
There will also be food vendors, and the area businesses stay open late so you can grab a bite to eat or a drink. This is all so much fun, so don’t miss it.

This event will go on rain or shine, so bring your umbrella if it’s raining. It gets packed and streets shut down for it, so it’s a good idea to get there early. Also, bring some cash with you. While the event is free, you might want to buy something from one of the vendors.
This event is a great way to ring in the new year. You can make the new year even better by getting a new set of wheels from Gilland Ford in Ozark, Alabama. Your new vehicle will help you have a blast in 2019 and beyond.
