The Wiregrass Museum of Art in Dothan has been around since 1988. Over the years, the museum has built a reputation of offering educational programs and activities for people to enjoy. That means there is always something going on at the Wiregrass Museum of Art. Check out what is coming up on the calendar, and then make plans to attend at least one of the events.
First Saturday Family Day – Sept. 1 and Recurring
When the first Saturday of the month rolls around, that means one thing at the Wiregrass Museum of Art. It’s time for First Saturday Family Day. You can bring the kids to the museum for free, and they’ll get to enjoy a project. The museum comes up with something new each month. In the past, kids have created fish out of recycled materials, made luminaries, and created accordion-fold books. Those are the kinds of projects you can expect when you attend.
The event starts at 10:30 a.m. and lasts until 2:30 p.m.
Art of Yoga – Sept. 7 and Recurring
The Art of Yoga takes place on the first Friday of the month. This class will give you the opportunity to take a yoga class right in an art gallery. There is something about doing yoga when surrounded by art that makes it so much more relaxing.
This event takes place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. You need to bring a yoga mat with you. Also, bring a $10 donation if you can.
Screen on the Green – Sept. 20 and Recurring
Screen on the Green is another recurring event at the Wiregrass Museum of Art. It takes place on the third Thursday in March, June, September, and December, so there are two movies left this year. “Loving Vincent” is the next film on the agenda, and it’ll be followed up by “A Muppet Christmas Carol” in December.
The movie starts at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, and you can also get free popcorn.
